Mama Bessie is a proudly Nigerian diaper and wipes brand created by a new mom for moms across Africa. It offers affordable, skin-friendly, and ultra-absorbent baby care products that combine comfort, quality, and trust—because every baby deserves gentle protection, and every mother deserves peace of mind.

The Mama Bessie design process was a strategic journey that transformed the "by a mom, for moms" ethos into a premium visual identity through deep market analysis and creative exploration.

Sketches

Beginning with a mindmap focused on "softness, love, and reliability," the team analyzed competitors to find a gap for a brand that feels both high-end and relatable to "new age" African mothers. This led to the development of two primary directions: one featuring a stylized "M" representing the bond between mother and child, and a preferred mascot-driven design centered on a sheep to symbolize maximum comfort and absorbency.
Visual Identity

Each concept was meticulously built into a full brand system including primary and secondary logos, submarks, and favicons—paired with an Afrocentric color palette of warm yellows and pastels to ensure a cohesive, trustworthy presence across all packaging and digital platforms.
